The Women’s Building Receives City Grant to Keep San Francisco Beautiful

The Women’s Building is proud to announce that we have received a Community Challenge City Grant from Mayor Lee to go towards the restoration of our MaestraPeace mural! We were chosen along with 27 other award recipients to further our work in keeping San Francisco neighborhoods green and beautiful.

“Community Challenge Grants allow the City to partner with our diverse communities to make immediate improvements to our public spaces,” said Mayor Lee. “We are inspired by these twenty-eight innovative projects that will bring neighbors together to keep the City beautiful and make real, long-term investments in our neighborhoods.”

We are thankful for this award along with the three other grants we were recently gifted with by San Francisco Beautiful, the Fleishhacker Foundation, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, and the W.A. Gerbode Foundation. We would also like to thank individual donors and those who have contributed to our community fundraisers. With all of these contributions combined, we have been able to raise $96,500! This means that the mural restoration can begin in the late summer/early fall as was hoped! BUT we’re still not done raising money. We have $33,500 more to go! So, if you care about preserving a historical city landmark, as well as, women’s history and public art then please make an individual donation here today and help us spread the word!

Help maintain the beauty of San Francisco and the value of women’s public art! Donate to the MaestraPeace Mural today!
